Our Story
About Our Team
At Burpham Vets, everything starts with our people. Marta and Monika have shared a special bond for over 30 years — friends first, and sisters-in-law for the past 20! From navigating secondary school to studying veterinary medicine together, their journeys have been intertwined every step of the way.
Fifteen years ago, they reunited in Guildford, bringing their shared passion for animals and people with them.
Knowing how much animals mean to families, Marta and Monika decided to embark on a new adventure: creating a veterinary clinic for their neighbours, friends, and families. Their vision was simple — to combine modern veterinary medicine, a family-oriented approach, and their passion for providing expert care to every pet and their people.
Our Vision
Our vision is to create a veterinary practice where pets and their owners feel truly cared for. We believe in unhurried appointments, continuity of care, and a calm, friendly environment. By staying independent, we can focus on what matters most — healthy, happy pets and lasting relationships with the families we serve.
Our Mission
Our mission is to deliver exceptional veterinary care without compromise. We are dedicated to providing honest advice, tailored treatment plans, and the highest standards of medicine in a welcoming setting. Every decision we make is guided by the wellbeing of your pet, ensuring care that is compassionate, personal, and stress-free.

I grew up surrounded by animals—dogs, cats, and horses—and with both of my parents being veterinarians, caring for animals has always been a natural part of my life. After graduating from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Warsaw University of Life Sciences in 2005, I moved to the UK in 2007 and worked in a variety of practices before settling in Guildford, where my children were born and where we’ve built strong ties within the local community.
I enjoy all aspects of general practice, with particular interests in internal medicine and soft tissue surgery. Most of all, I value supporting families and their pets through every stage of life and building lasting bonds with clients.
At home, our lively Irish Setter keeps us busy, while our British Shorthair cat rules the house with quiet authority

I decided I wanted to be a vet when I was seven years old and got my very first hamster. At that point, I was absolutely convinced that looking after animals was the most important job in the world (and I still haven’t changed my mind). While my hamster may not have been the most exotic patient, he set me on the path to a career that now has me looking after everything from mischievous puppies to very opinionated cats.
These days I share life with Masha the crazy English Springer Spaniel (named after a cartoon character after my daughter’s “Elsa” idea was vetoed) and Finley the ginger cat — whose name was a hard-won compromise between “Diego Maradona” and “Princess Jasmine.”
Whether in the clinic or at home, animals have always been at the center of my world. I love building strong bonds with both pets and their owners, and I’m especially passionate about helping families keep their furry companions healthy, happy, and living their best lives — even if naming them sometimes requires serious diplomacy!

Shannon, Registered Veterinary Nurse
I’ve worked in the veterinary industry for over 10 years and qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse in 2020. At home, I have three cats and an Irish Setter, so I truly understand how important it is to want the very best care for your pets. Since I was young, dogs and cats have been part of my everyday life. I also adore small furry animals, and growing up with gerbils, hamsters and degu’s taught me early on how rewarding it is to care for all kinds of pets. I’m really looking forward to meeting you and your wonderful animals.

I’ve known since I was very small that I wanted to work with animals.
I grew up with a Mini Schnauzer and had great fun showing my guinea pigs, later along came hamsters, gerbils, rabbits and chinchillas.
My first Saturday job was in a vets and i’ve never left, qualifying as a Veterinary Nurse in 1992.
One of the things I enjoy the most is supporting clients to care for their pets with preventative health care and advice.
At home I share my life with my family, a bull terrier (bit of an obsession!) and a cocker spaniel.

Cheryl, Receptionist
From my teenage years I have wanted to be a veterinary Receptionist as my forte lies with caring for animals and talking! It took alot of detours and career choices but I eventually became one approximately ten years ago.
I love animals, especially dogs and within my role I enjoy being able to help and guide their owners with their pet journey.
My other passion in life is travelling and I’ve been fortunate enough to have been to numerous places around the world, but am always eager to explore more.
I have also voluntered with different charities over the years and just like to help people in whatever capacity I can.
